How A Smile Possibly Saved This Referee’s Life!

A little tongue and cheek here… but I lived in Brazil for a few years and this could have started a riot – literally. Even after some of the local soccer matches the Military Police were out in full riot gear at all the bus stations with automatic weapons and riot dogs to curb the violence of the fans from both the losing and wining teams! Ronaldinho is Brazil’s soccer star and quite possible one of the most famous people in the entire country because of their love for the game!

When I saw this video I was very impressed at Ronaldinho’s reaction to the red card. He simply turned around and laughed. I’m sure he knew it was a mistake by the referee, but it was a great lesson none the less. A smile turns away most wrath as I have found out in life. In fact you could see the referee smile and laugh about it as well once he realized the folly of his error.

All to often in the world we see devastating actions from people who don’t know how to laugh at the situation they are in. A bump turns into a fight that leaves someone crippled or dead. An argument turns into a stabbing that puts someone in the grave and the other on death row. The same type of attitude is pervasive in politics across the world.

It’s ironic to me because I see humor in almost everything. If everyone could take a lesson from Ronaldinho’s playbook and learn to smile instead of frown, to hug instead of shove, and to understand the other person’s perspective before arguing – then the world would be a better place. Allow me to be so bold as to suggest that to happen in your individual lives before you expect others to start acting differently.

Here’s to a good smile and laugh when we find ourselves in a difficult situation.

This past winter as I stood at my van, side door opened, there was an easy 8 ” of slush on the ground, the side streets hadn’t seen the snowplow yet.
I had my back to the street as I reached in to grab my dog and knapsack a van came, a little too fast on a left hand turn and sprayed a huge puddle of slush, it hit me from the middle of the back of my head down into my boots. I inhaled so loud and deep from the shock , like that first second of diving into a lake for the first time before checking the temp. The woman slammed on her breaks and looked paniced, in that second I knew two things, she did not do that on purpose, and it would ruin my day if I bitched about it all day, so I instantly started laughing my head off and waved her off.
I was still laughing as I took my boots off then and there to dump the 3 inches of slush!
I giggled all day and told the story numerous times as I explained my mismatched outfit I wearing.

A smile is something that is so easy to give and recieve, you dont’ even have to stop and share words, a smile crosses all boundaries, I don’t need to know you to wish you good day !
I have started a smile bank, need one take one, like leave a penny take a penny in stores.
so come on by and grab a smile as you stroll along your path.
See you out there..we are all going to the same place, you can call it what you want, and lots do, but we are waves of energy.
All Life is Energy..Stop and Feel it Daily..Because it Feels You.
