This is by far one of the most powerful examples of the power of the human will as well as one of the most inspirational stories I have ever seen. Whenever I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed I refer to the giant examples of Dick and Rick Hoyt. It’s such a motivation to see their desire to achieve success in all areas of life.
The biggest lesson for me in this is: “I CAN”
I can be a better person.
I can be a better father.
I can be a better husband.
I can be …
Please enjoy. I’d love your comments. What were the powerful lessons for you?

Wow, what a story. To me it proves that man is more than his body. He is a spiritual being inhabiting a body and it is the thoughts and decisions and intentions of the spirit that determine how well that person will survive. And the spirit alone can surmount and physical problems of the body. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Tremendous! How inspiring to know that there are amazing people like that in the world. I pray we can all become as couragous and devoted as this father is to his son to our own families.
Sure is incredible! Thanks for sharing your insight. It’s really appreciated. Feel free to check out the other posts and share with friends
Take care.
I am so touched by this story. I f WE ALL could be like this father and son team, the WORLD would be a better place for all of us! Bless this team with all the love and success possible.

Cannot say anymore than the previous – wow – I cried – so inspirational – great guys
This video reminded me about my son, and that I will do everything to help him live a full life and grow up to be a good man. It also inspired me to always strive to be a better person, if the Hoyts surmounted such formidable obstacles, it would be a crying shame if we squander what we have and not climb our own mountains. Thank you for sharing.
Wow.. mental note. Do not watch this at work when you have people in your office.
Great stuff! Great song at the end as well. I can only imagine.

It is an amazing story, when I saw it for the first time I got tears in my eyes.
What a huge life lesson to learn!
If everybody could have just a slice of that father’s love and courage, what a better place Earth would be.
Thank for sharing.
Ciao.

Oh my – this video is awesome (I hate that word but it’s the only way to describe it!)
I saw this a while ago when I was preggers and made me bawl like the baby inside of me!!
So inspiring! The love of the father to his son brings me to tears… Amazing what love can accomplish.
Most inspiring hopefully many more people will see this and be motivated to be better lovers of life.
I realise that my father loved me more than I can express, having lost my mother at a young age, my Dad was both for me taught me how to play every sport I desired, supported me in everything I did, said he loved my cooking, chased what he thought to be undesirable boys away by firing a shot gun in the air when they came up to the porch, taught me how to shoot, fish, race snowmobiles & motorcycles and much much more! I have been very involved in my childrens lives and activities and will be with my new grandchildren as well,Daddy raised me in the church as I inturn did mine and I thank the Heavenly Father for him. Now that he’s been at home with Jesus for a year, I vow to continue to pleasing to both my birt and Heavenly Father always! RIP Daddy, I will carry on your legacy!

Not sure how to put into words how inspired and humbled I am by this display of the most powerful love and support I’ve seen in my lifetime. Thank you for sharing and for being an inspiration to us all.
I DON’T GET IT. AN EXERCISE FREAK AND HIS DEADWEIGHT SPAWN? SO WHAT?
THERE ARE TOO MANY DAMN PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET ALREADY.
RUNNING AROUND SERVES NO USEFUL PURPOSE. SEEMS MORE LIKE EXHIBITIONISTIC MARKETING TO ME.
THEY DON’T SHOW YOU ALL THE PAINFUL ACCIDENTS THEY’VE HAD.
GET REAL. THIS IS THE STUFF OF EXTREME ECCENTRICITY.
What a beautiful story. My dear brother-in-law was born with CP and his parents did everything they could to give him a normal life, teach him to enjoy life. He went to college, had a wife and child and is one of my best friends in this world.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story.
Hmmmm, as long as the comment isn’t vulgar I’m not going to necessarily block it, but I have to say Veritas that I don’t agree at all with your comment. I suppose you are entitled to your opinion, but I think you are far off base with it. Long before the “exhibitionistic marketing” as you call it was Rick’s desire to help a fellow student in high school and asked his father to be his legs in a race for charity. The story then goes on to say how he felt a strong sense of accomplishment and purpose, so he and his father kept racing.
This story is about the love and dedication of a father to his son – not “an exercise freak and his deadweight spawn.”
TRULY inspirational and awesome!! LOVE conquers all for sure!
You share display a lot of love for your son, its beyond words and imagination. God bless you all and I sure have a lot to learn from you. Keep going, You are amazing……
Great story. The relationship between father and son is very humbling. I do think, however, that the somewhat overdone presentation detracts from the “reality” of the story.
Hi Gabriel, thanks for making this post and the wedding one too! This is a tear jerker! There are many ways to live life, some live it to the fullest and some find every excuse under the sun to blame and feel like a victim. Life is what you make of it, it is a choice.
P.S. I pity Veritas that s/he cannot find anything inspiring in the story, life is too short to be so jaded, angry and pessimistic.
“Blindingly inspiring” is right. Thank you so much for sending this to me at @IntegrityConMRP. The post was RT in an attempt to help you spread the message…”We Can” and, “We Should.” No excuses-Thanks again.

WOW ~ that’s all I can say but tears flow freely :*-)
If you can’t truly say that you would do the same for your kids…you really need to think about the kind of parent/person you are….we may thing we cannot do it, but we shouldn’t ever say we wouldn’t do it!! I am humbled greatly!!
I am ashamed and angered by Veritas post above, I cannot believe that someone could be so cold, so utterly disrespectful – you need to check yourself, seriously!!
Though already familiar with this story, I still found myselft extremely emotional watching this updated version. I hope and pray that I would be as strong as the father if the need arose with one of my children. The love both parents have for their children is so beautiful, so inspirational. Perhaps if Veritas had seen the original story, he’d know the why and how this all started and s/he wouldn’t be so disrespectful and callous. It boggles the mind to think that a fellow human being could actually be so thoughtless as to enter that post. Seriously. We all can only pray that s/he NEVER has children of their own. Obvioulsy, they’d make a piss-poor parent!
GBU, Team Hoyt!
This is a truly inspiring story. My little 5 year old niece has CP and I am always amazed at her determination, her will to accomplish even the smallest of tasks, by herself. She becomes frustrated at times, but she never gives up. She is able to walk, with support. She tries very hard to speak, and as you get used to her special way of talking you will be able to understand everything she says. She is a very intelligent young lady and we all love her very much *~*
What an Amazing story, So moving, god bless you both. I’m lost for words, such a beautiful story thankyou for sharing it with us : ))))))
I am crying
I’m sorry people!
Same of us very blessed because we have everything like me! Some of us NOT and I’m crying because of that!
Incredible! Inspiring! There really are no words to describe the emotion. Thanks for posting. Hope you don’t mind if I share?
Dick, please feel free to share! That’s why I posted it
Have a great day.
Hello Noelani,
VERITAS has an evil heart just like (Hitler, Vladimir Lenin, Carl Marx) who believe people with disabilities do not have a quality of life – but the same mind set are in the Obama Administration (fellow Democrats) goals for Socialized Health Care. Even Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, health care advisor to President Obama, says the elderly with dementia and the young who have neurological disorders should be sacrificed for the common good.
As you see these people LIKE VERITAS above are evil and sinister to the core – their bothers are hard-core communist who have killed 100 million people for their implementation of SOCIAL JUSTICE.

Plus Emanuel, however, believes that “communitarianism” should guide decisions on who gets care. He says medical care should be reserved for the non-disabled, not given to those “who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens . . . An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia” (JAMA, Feb. 27, 2008).
What a story. Thanks so much for sharing this
I am so touched by this story. What a life full of love
to made such great way to one destination; –happiness .
We are still masters of our fate.
We are still captains of our souls.

Very inspiring, We can all overcome obstacles if we try.
Nature has given us everything we need, we just have to take advantage of it.
Big Agri, is destroying our health and our lives.
Thanks for this inspiring story.
