I’m a 31 year old man and I can’t believe I’m about to admit this to the public on my blog… but I really like Miley Cyrus’ single “Party in the USA”. (Did I really just admit to that?!!) Oh well. It’s out there. There’s something about it that’s just a cool pick me upper.

So I was checking out http://stufftotweet.com the other day and this video was in the top 10 most popular. Yes, I clicked on it thinking I would listen to my secret indulgence, but what I found actually surprised me a bit. I’ve never heard of the artist that put this together even though it appears she’s a comedian by trade. Check out her YouTube channel for her other works: http://www.youtube.com/user/BrittaniLouiseTaylor

My mother passed away two years ago (28 Aug 07) and she dealt with issues of depression and attempted suicide throughout her adult life because of the abuse she suffered as a child. That’s another story for another blog post, but needless to say this video caused me to reflect on the serious issues that people deal with on a daily basis. Other than cancer, she struggled with all of the other issues shown in this video.

Maybe I felt inspired to share this because today is Sunday and I had a great day worshiping at church and spending the afternoon and evening with my little family. Maybe it was because I have been reflecting on my mother’s courageous life and thinking how much I miss her. Whatever the reason I hope you enjoy the song as much as I did. It has a great message of overcoming adversity through hope.

In comparison to some my life has been a cake walk. Not to say it’s been all roses though. I’ve experienced pain, rejection, failure, etc. Through all of those various experiences though I’ve always said to myself “Everything is gonna be OK!” So when I heard this song it just reminded me once again that everything is truly going to be OK.

Regardless if you are struggling with an difficult circumstance in life or not – smile! Here’s a warm hug from me to you.

Thanks to Brittani Louise Taylor for performing this beautiful song. Well done. As for my mom, I know she’s watching over me. I love ya mom…

I’d love to hear from you about what you thought of this video. Feel free to Retweet and share with any and all of your favorite social media sites. Have a great day.

This is why I absolutely love Twitter. I have been tweeting another #inspirational clip regarding the Dick and Rick Hoyt (here on my blog) and I had a lovely woman respond saying this was also inspiring. So I checked it out and decided to post it here on my blog because it was that good!

Here’s what I thought about while watching this clip:

1. You can do just about anything if you don’t limit yourself.
2. One important but not necessary factor in that are the people around you who either encourage you or try to place limits on you. Therefore, surround yourself with good people who will buoy you up when adversity strikes.
3. We each have the choice to either be a victim of circumstances and tragedy or be a hero and overcome the obstacles placed in our path.
4. The human ability to adapt and thrive is amazing!

Alright, there were a ton of other things that I really liked about this young man and how he has overcome his inability to use his physical sense of sight, but I’d love to get your feedback on how this story has touched you. Go out and conquer your world!

Men’s Brain, Women’s Brain – Hilarious

Check out my 3 part video series where I show VIDEO PROOF on how I increased visitor traffic to this blog by over 3600% in ONE WEEK!

A friend just showed me this video last night as we were upgrading operating systems on another computer. It was so good I just had to share!

I love humor – especially when it’s used to shed light on real life situations. To laugh at one’s self and be able to then improve is an amazing concept and so I sincerely appreciate presenters such as Mark Gungor.

I found myself agreeing with his assessment of the “Nothing Box”. I’m a man, a husband, and father of four small children from 6 years down to 2 months old. I love my family very much, but occasionally I find myself stressed out with the demands of life and I go to my nothing box place. Now I can finally show my wife this video to explain that behavior that we have called “cave time” up to this point!

So ladies – when you ask your significant other “What’s on your mind?” and they respond with the age old “NOTHING”, just understand they are probably unwinding. It’s not that we men don’t love you and hate talking to you… it’s just that we are in our brain checking out the “NOTHING BOX”.

Hope that helps in your marriage relations quest!

How A Smile Possibly Saved This Referee’s Life!

| Posted in Inspirational |

1

A little tongue and cheek here… but I lived in Brazil for a few years and this could have started a riot – literally. Even after some of the local soccer matches the Military Police were out in full riot gear at all the bus stations with automatic weapons and riot dogs to curb the violence of the fans from both the losing and wining teams! Ronaldinho is Brazil’s soccer star and quite possible one of the most famous people in the entire country because of their love for the game!

When I saw this video I was very impressed at Ronaldinho’s reaction to the red card. He simply turned around and laughed. I’m sure he knew it was a mistake by the referee, but it was a great lesson none the less. A smile turns away most wrath as I have found out in life. In fact you could see the referee smile and laugh about it as well once he realized the folly of his error.

All to often in the world we see devastating actions from people who don’t know how to laugh at the situation they are in. A bump turns into a fight that leaves someone crippled or dead. An argument turns into a stabbing that puts someone in the grave and the other on death row. The same type of attitude is pervasive in politics across the world.

It’s ironic to me because I see humor in almost everything. If everyone could take a lesson from Ronaldinho’s playbook and learn to smile instead of frown, to hug instead of shove, and to understand the other person’s perspective before arguing – then the world would be a better place. Allow me to be so bold as to suggest that to happen in your individual lives before you expect others to start acting differently.

Here’s to a good smile and laugh when we find ourselves in a difficult situation.

What do these two videos have in common?

(Watch the two videos then read the rest below… Enjoy!)

So again, I ask the question: What do these two videos have in common? I’ll share with you a few of my own thoughts and I would like to get yours as well.

First off, both Paul Potts and Susan Boyle don’t fit your average perception of success and ability if you know what I mean. In fact most people just wrote them off by their looks alone. It was apparent to me that both lacked any serious confidence at the beginning of their respective runs of “Britain’s Got Talent.” As the show progressed though you saw them grow in confidence. Lesson #1 for me was the old adage that “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.”

My second observation is that in the interviews and questioning they went through it was apparent that they had a love and a passion for using their talent. Most importantly they had a dream and they pursued it. I think that’s a great reminder for each of us as we take a look at what’s going on in our lives. Go after your dreams and be passionate about it! You can and will succeed if you desire it enough and get the proper information and training. Here’s to your success!

There are tons of other lessons that I learned, but I’d like to get your thoughts and ideas. I take the time to write these because I enjoy the exchange of ideas and thoughts. Also feel free to retweet this and/or share. The tool bar below helps facilitate that. Take care.

The Power of the Unexpected

Check out my 3 part video series where I show VIDEO PROOF on how I increased visitor traffic to this blog by over 3600% in ONE WEEK!

First off allow me to say that I originally saw this video on another blog post and I thought it was SO amazing that I had to share my thoughts on the subject. I found myself laughing, dancing, and crying (yah I know… not to sexy for a 31 year old middle aged man at 11pm in front of his monitor…) but for reasons that maybe aren’t so apparent to most.

See, for me the last two years have felt like hell – literally. A failed business, $20M plus in personal assets lost to the bank due to a business failure that also caused over $13M in outstanding business liabilities. I had the repo guys show up during dinner with my young family, the court representatives serve me with countless lawsuits, AND the constable come and deliver the eviction papers on the home that was already foreclosed on. Through that process I forgot how to live – how to enjoy life – how to be happy.

Things have been getting MUCH better with time, but the sting of that time frame is still apparent. Throughout that entire ordeal my wife and I have grown closer to each other and our love for each other has grown stronger… much stronger. For that sweet reason I cried.

This song is one of my favorite of all time. For that reason I danced.

This video brought out the joy that I know we are all meant to experience. For that reason I laughed.

Thanks to the folks over at Outspoken Media for sharing this. It was a great “pick me upper” for sure. Check out their original blog post here.

Check out my 3 part video series where I show VIDEO PROOF on how I increased visitor traffic to this blog by over 3600% in ONE WEEK!

This is by far one of the most powerful examples of the power of the human will as well as one of the most inspirational stories I have ever seen. Whenever I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed I refer to the giant examples of Dick and Rick Hoyt. It’s such a motivation to see their desire to achieve success in all areas of life.

The biggest lesson for me in this is: “I CAN”

I can be a better person.
I can be a better father.
I can be a better husband.
I can be …

Please enjoy. I’d love your comments. What were the powerful lessons for you?
